第一屆「台灣國際黯黑舞蹈藝術節」Taiwan International Darkness Dance Festival (2017）

Faced with the relentless passage of time and trials of life, while living in a universe where everything is subject to change, can you hear your heart's voice? Can you find your true self?

These are the messages the International Darkness Contemporary Dance Troupe hopes to get across to its audiences. Their performances, with neither narratives nor plots, are a simple combination of pure body movements and tunes, aiming to evoke the sense of emotional fickleness deep down in our hearts. In addition, through organizing the Taiwan International Darkness Dance Festival, the dance troupe uses the idea of “falling” to project the inner hearts of people, expressed in an impressively brilliant way to resonate with the audience off the dark, shadowy stage.

Dancers and musicians performing at the Festival are from Taiwan, Sweden, Finland, Japan, and Hong Kong—all of which received professional training in Butoh and contemporary dance, and martial arts. Bandsmen include vocal improvisationists, guqinists, cellists, pianists, and Nanguan musicians. Through collective creations, they bounc musical ideas off each other to put on a great performance. As the music plays, an endless cycle of dance and body movement goes on, while rounds of dim light and fluttering fire in the dark symbolize care for each other’s free and equal spiritual world.

時は流れ、命は磨かれてゆく。この不安定な宇宙の中で、内なる心の声は聞こえていますか。その叫びは、他者へと届けられますか？

国境を超えた「ダークネスダンス」作品の中で、ダンサーは観客に大切なイメージを伝えます。物語の台詞やナレーションはありません。純粋に、音楽に合わせた体の動きで、人の心の内面に潜む奇妙に変化する情欲を探求し、喚起します。《ダークネスダンスフェスティバル》では人の内側にある「堕落」した魂を全身で具現化します。溢れ出す思いの欠片は、瞬く間に暗い観客席にいる観客たちを覆ってゆくことでしょう。

ダンサーやアーティストたちは台湾、スウェーデン、フィンランド、日本、香港などの出身で、ダンスや現代ダンス、武術などの専門的な訓練を受けた者たちです。演奏には即興の声、琴、チェロ、ピアノ、南管(中国南部の民族楽器)などが用いられます。国境、ジャンルを超えたメンバーでの創作を通し、互いに高め合いながら一つの作品を作り上げます。暗黒の舞台で微かな光に照らされたダンサーの「踊り」は絶え間なく続けられ、溢れる「互いの自由や平等を求める想い」を暗闇に咲かせます。

Le temps qui s’écoule, les aléas de la vie, dans cet univers instable, ne faut-il pas chercher à écouter sa voix intérieure, à rencontrer son moi profond? C’est en traversant les frontières dans une chorégraphie contemporaine sombre que le danseur transmet au spectateur ces idées essentielles. Il n’y a pas de fil narratif ni d’intrigue, c’est le seul entrelacement des corps avec la musique qui permet d’explorer les méandres du désir et du coeur humain. Le “Festival international des danses obscures” (Taiwan International Darkness Dance Festival)
investit l’idée de “chute” pour refléter l’intériorité de l’homme et magnifier le temps d’un instant nos pensées disséquées, enveloppant d’obscurité la salle et les spectateurs.

Danseurs et musiciens originaires de Taïwan, de Suède, de Finlande, du Japon, de Hong Kong pratiquant la danse contemporaine, ou ayant été formés au Wugong; instrumentistes improvisant sur leur guqin, violoncelle, piano ou nanyin. Grâce à un processus de création collective et par les étincelles nées d’attisements mutuels, les corps et la danse ne font plus qu’un au son de la musique, acte après acte l’obscurité tenace du feu lumineux de la danse ne s’éteint pas, symbolisant le besoin partagé de liberté et d’équilibre dans un monde spirituel.
